3 Skills That Will Get You Hired in Healthcare Accounting

Learn more about our Healthcare Accounting & Finance CPE Series

Transcript:

Here are 3 skills to master to land a healthcare accounting role. First — cost accounting. Healthcare organizations live and die by their margins. If you can analyze the cost of a procedure, a patient stay, or a department, you’re immediately valuable. Second — revenue cycle management. You don’t have to be an expert in medical billing, but you do need to understand how money flows from patient intake to insurance payments. Terms like “denials,” “collections,” and “days in A/R” should sound familiar. And third — industry-specific metrics. You should know what things like patient days, bed occupancy rate, and net patient revenue mean — and how they impact financial decisions. If you want to get a deeper understanding of the nuances of healthcare accounting — so you can confidently interview for industry roles or work with healthcare clients — check out our Healthcare Accounting and Finance series at Wisdify. It’s Nasba-accredited, so you’ll earn CPEs while developing the skills you need to thrive in the healthcare industry.
