Why We Launched Our Healthcare Accounting & Finance Series
At Wisdify, we’ve always believed that accountants deserve education that’s not only technical, but practical — education that helps them truly advance their careers. Over the past few years, one trend became increasingly clear: healthcare finance is booming, and there’s a real lack of specialized training to prepare accountants for it.
The healthcare industry continues to grow rapidly, driven by an aging population, regulatory complexity, and increasing demand for services. In fact, healthcare spending in the U.S. rose to nearly $5 trillion in 2023, and healthcare roles are projected to remain among the fastest-growing in the economy over the next decade. Despite this growth, very few programs exist to help accountants develop the specific skills needed to work inside hospitals, clinics, insurers, and healthcare systems.
That’s the gap we set out to fill.
The Problem We Saw
Most traditional accounting CPE focuses on broad technical skills — GAAP, audits, tax — but leaves professionals unprepared for the nuances of specific industries. Healthcare is one of the most complex sectors in the economy. From managing patient revenue cycles and interpreting complex financial statements, to navigating HIPAA compliance and Medicare reimbursement policies, healthcare accounting demands a very different playbook.
Accountants coming from public accounting or unrelated industries often find themselves overwhelmed when they step into healthcare finance roles. They’re expected to understand a system that wasn’t covered in their prior training. Without specialized knowledge, even highly capable accountants can struggle to add value or advance their careers within healthcare organizations.
Our Approach to Solving It
We designed the Healthcare Accounting & Finance Series to directly address this gap.
Starting with our intro course, each course is built for real-world application. Our series covers critical topics like revenue recognition under ASC 606 for healthcare entities, activity-based costing for patient care, understanding the Uniform System of Accounts, and interpreting financial statements unique to healthcare organizations.
Just as importantly, every course is NASBA-accredited, meaning learners can earn CPE credits while developing highly marketable expertise. The series is built with busy professionals in mind: straightforward, actionable lessons that focus on the skills accountants will actually use on the job.
Why Healthcare, and Why Now
Specialization is the future of accounting careers. Generalist skills alone aren’t enough to stand out anymore — employers value accountants who understand the operational and financial realities of the industries they serve.
Healthcare is one of the most resilient and future-proof sectors in the economy. Even during economic downturns, demand for healthcare remains steady. Financial leadership is becoming even more critical as organizations navigate rising costs, regulatory pressure, and demands for efficiency.
Accountants who invest in healthcare-specific knowledge now are positioning themselves for long-term stability and growth.
Moving Forward
At Wisdify, our mission is to empower accountants to build better careers — and that means preparing them for the industries where opportunity is greatest. Our new Healthcare Accounting & Finance Series is a major step toward that goal.
